THE EXCLUSIVE: From Financial Turmoil to Billion-Dollar Success
Taking my call from his home office in Perth, Torrin Minutillo, the founder of High Level Selling and CEO of Diamond Real Estate, emanates a composed confidence that speaks volumes about his remarkable journey. His career, punctuated by resilience and a relentless pursuit of self-improvement, reflects the power of perseverance and insightful growth.
At 59 years old, Torrin has constructed a business that not only meets his financial aspirations but also affords him the liberty to explore diverse interests and projects. This self-sufficient enterprise stands as a beacon of his career, offering him the luxury of choice and the absence of financial pressure—a stark contrast to the survival mode many entrepreneurs find themselves in.
However, Torrin’s journey has not been without its challenges. The 2008 financial crisis was a crucible that tested his resilience to its very core. At that point, business owners around the world did not know what was happening. By 2011, the financial gains he had painstakingly accumulated had been eroded, leaving him in a position where he had to sell all his assets to pay mounting debts. It was a period marked by immense difficulty, during which he borrowed money from his family just to hold onto the family home and keep his business afloat.
The turnaround, however, came not from external factors but from a profound internal shift. Torrin moved away from seeking external solutions and began to look inward, becoming obsessive about understanding human behaviour. He immersed himself in education, dedicating every available moment and resource to learning. This newfound understanding transformed how he connected with clients, and his real estate business began to grow exponentially, far beyond what he had previously imagined. The more he learned about himself, the more he understood those around him, leading to deeper, more meaningful relationships both personally and professionally.
Over the past two decades, Torrin has been integral in negotiating approximately 1,700 real estate deals, with a total value exceeding $1 billion—a testament to his business acumen and the strength of the relationships he has cultivated. However, underneath all of that, family and relationships continue to be his biggest asset.
A devoted family man, Torrin takes immense pride in his role as both a provider and a stabilising force. Married to his wife Tami for 33 years, they have two adult daughters, Olivia and Claudia, who are thriving in their own lives. Recently, the family welcomed their first grandchild who at nine weeks old has already brought immeasurable joy to Torrin’s life.
Torrin’s journey offers invaluable lessons for aspiring entrepreneurs and seasoned professionals alike:
- INSIGHT COMES FROM WITHIN THE PROCESS
- YOU CAN’T MASTER WHAT YOU DON’T PRACTICE
- SALES SUCCESS IS HUMAN, NOT FINANCIAL
- RESILIENCE IS BORN IN THE ADVERSITY
As I conclude our conversation, it’s clear that Torrin’s story is one of profound transformation and enduring wisdom, reminding us that success is a journey shaped by resilience, continuous learning, and a deep connection to ourselves.
